The folk-trad duo Prairie Comeau, composed of Anique Granger and Benoit Archambault, announces the release of an EP titled L'emprunt(e) volume 1, coming out on March 22, 2024.

After five years of work rearranging songs dating from before the 1960s, Prairie Comeau's approach is clear: it's the La Bonne Chanson repertoire that resonates most with them. Some of these pieces are so deeply rooted in our collective unconscious that the possibilities to reinterpret them (even transform them), without losing sight of their essence and familiarity, are immense. For Prairie Comeau, it's not only a natural and inspiring playground, it's a goldmine to explore! The result: song pairings, new colors, sometimes even new verses or new melodies. This EP also marks a musical turning point for Prairie Comeau, who seeks to draw more deliberately from the colors of traditional music, the music of their roots, as well as from americana folk influences. With the accompaniment of musician and producer Nicolas Boulerice (Le Vent du Nord), Prairie Comeau carves out their own unique path in this vast musical landscape.
