Founded in 1981 by, Just Us Folk is a program dedicated to acoustic folk music, including contemporary and traditional folk, singer-songwriters, Indigenous music, acoustic blues, and bluegrass. Throughout the year, Jan travels from festival to festival interviewing artists and discussing their craft. Over the past 44 years, Jan has been the master of ceremonies for several festivals, a judge for the Canadian Folk Music Awards and the Juno Awards, and a member of the board of directors of the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals. On February 21, 2024, Jan was inducted into the Folk Radio Hall of Fame in Kansas City during the Folk Alliance International conference
